KIEV (Chinaview) -- Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko on Tuesday called on voters for active participation in the upcoming parliamentary election scheduled for Sept. 30.

Addressing a conference of the campaign alliance in support of the president, Yushchenko called on voters to make their own choices for the country's future during the election.
Voters should concern themselves with the election, strengthen their sense of responsibility for it and actively participate in the voting, he said.
As the president, Yushchenko said he will supervise the campaigning activities of all parties to make sure that they are regulated by the law.
The election must be fair and transparent and voters' rights and freedom should be safeguarded, he said.
Ten Ukrainian political parties formed an alliance early last month in support of Yushchenko in the run-up to the election.
In a joint statement, the 10-party alliance gave its backing to Yushchenko's political platform, urging other political forces to join the bloc to win the upcoming vote.
Ukraine plunged into political turmoil in April, when Yushchenko signed decrees dissolving parliament and called for early elections.
His rival Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovich rejected the decree, saying it was unconstitutional. On May 27, both men agreed to hold early elections after a one-day meeting.
On June 5, Yushchenko signed a decree to set early parliamentary elections for Sept. 30. More than 150 lawmakers from opposition parties resigned from their seats during the months-long crisis, which meant the 450-seat parliament could no longer legally operate
